Both traditional and unconventional, Eddie Martinez’s painting combines screen printing, spray paint and sometimes even pieces of chewing gum wrappers and baby wipes.
His work embraces the lightness of contemporary culture, but also draws on historical movements such as Action Painting, Neo-Expressionism and CoBrA.
Martinez’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at museums and institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Drawing Center in New York, and the Davis Museum in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
His work is included in numerous public and private collections such as the Saatchi Collection and the Hiscox Collection in London; the Colección Jumex in Mexico City; the Marciano Collection in Los Angeles; the Morgan Library & Museum in New York; and the Davis Museum in Wellesley.
