ARTIST

Ron English

Ron English calls his lively and irreverent approach to the Pop Art aesthetic "Popaganda."

In his drawings, paintings and murals, the artist incorporates iconography from superhero comics, art history, advertising and politics.

The results are surreal reflections on high and low culture across the centuries.

English began creating art on the street; in the 1980s he participated in culture jamming (modifying billboards) with the Billboard Liberation Front.

He then received his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas.

Ron English has exhibited in London, Los Angeles and New York, among other cities.

In addition to his art and mural practices, English has produced album artwork for musicians such as the Dandy Warhols and Slash, illustrations for the documentary Super Size Me, and a number of designer toys.
