Daniel Arsham

Arsham's multidisciplinary art combines art, architecture and performance.

Raised in Miami, Florida, Arsham attended Cooper Union in New York, where he received the Gelman Trust Fellowship Award in 2003.
Soon after, he was invited to design and tour with choreographer Merce Cunningham's Dance Company, leading to a continued practice in set design and an ongoing collaboration with choreographer and former Cunningham dancer Jonah Boaker.

Arsham founded Snarkitecture with partner Alex Mustonen in 2007. Their architectural collaboration has included working with fashion brands, designing interior and architectural designs, and a full range of functional design objects.

In 2014, Arsham, Films of the Future was born. This production company synthesizes Arsham's entire creative output over the last decade and creates a visual framework in which his work could exist, in a distant and futuristic world.

Arsham's work has been presented at PS1 in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Miami, the Athens Biennale in Athens, Greece, the New Museum in New York, Mills College Art Museum in Oakland, Cincinnati CAC, SCAD Museum of Art in Savannah GA, CA, and Carré d'Art in Nimes, France, among others.

His latest series, Future Relic, runs for two years and consists of nine short films depicting a future civilization before and after Earth undergoes major ecological changes. The series also includes sculptures of petrified 20th-century media artifacts, constructed to resemble artifacts decaying through obsolescence.
