Miss Van started painting on the street at the age of 18 in the early 1990s. Her innovative style contrasts with the traditionally masculine urban art.
Her work has been exhibited around the world, from Paris to New York, Los Angeles, Barcelona and Manila, and has been influenced by everything from free figuration to 1950s pin-up girls, Vaughn Bodé’s comic books and religious imagery.
Her work has evolved over time. The line has become more refined and the drawing has become more detailed. The stylized “dolls” of the early days became more realistic, dark and expressive.
